Pixologic introduced a new version of Zbrush, which introduced a complete version numbering system and several new, important functions.

ZBrush 2018 now includes an improved version of dynamic tessellation, which is available in Sculptris. This allows artists to sculpt without experiencing the grid density, thanks to automatic tessellation of geometry where necessary and reducing density, where it is not required. All this happens in real time using this technology from Pixilogic, called Tessimation.


In ZBrush 2018, the capabilities of the gizmo and deformers manipulators introduced in the 4R8 version were expanded. The complete list of deformers now includes 27 tools and includes Bend Arc, Deformer, Flatten, Project Primitive, Remesh from Decimation, Slice, Subdivide, Bend Curve, Deformer Hard, Inflate, Remesh from Dynamesh, Rotate, Smooth, Taper, Bevel, Deformer Soft, Multi Slice, Remesh by Union, Scale, Smooth All, Twist, Crease, Extender, Offset, Remesh from ZRemesher, Skew, and Stretch.
Also in this release, a new way of creating polygonal groups is implemented. PolygroupIt is a semi-automatic system capable of evaluating the surface of a model in real time to create polygroups. The user can edit polygroups by deleting, adding, copying and pasting, increasing or contracting samples symmetrically and using PolyPaint to paint how Polygroups should look.
